Terms of Service
Last updated: October 25, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Hoone (“Hoone”, “we”, “us”) for using the Hoone game at hoone.net, including the daily leaderboard, accounts and the shop (together, the “Game”). By playing the Game you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Game.
1. Who can play
Anyone can play the Game. To create an account you must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you may only buy anything in the Game with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms for you.
2. Your account
An account is optional. If you create one, give us a real email address you can access and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is using it. One person per account; do not sell, share or transfer accounts.
3. The Game
The Game is free to play. Every day there is a new island that is the same for everyone. We may change, add or remove parts of the Game at any time, for example maps, cars, physics, leaderboards or features, and we may reset or correct leaderboards and progress when needed (for example after a bug or cheating). The Game runs in your browser, and we do not promise it will work on every device, browser or connection, or that it will always be available.
4. Racing names and runs
When you post a run, your racing name, time, car and ghost recording are shown publicly on the leaderboard and can be replayed by others. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to store, display, replay and share that content in the Game and when promoting the Game (for example in a video of the day’s best runs), for as long as the content is in the Game.
Your racing name must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, a real person’s full name, someone else’s trademark, or pretend to be another player or us. We may change or remove any name or run, without notice, if we think it breaks these terms.
5. Play fair
You agree not to:
- cheat, use bots, scripts, macros or modified clients, or post runs you did not drive yourself;
- post fake or altered times or ghosts, or exploit bugs to manipulate the leaderboard;
- attack, overload, scan or try to get unauthorized access to the Game, its servers or other players’ accounts;
- scrape or bulk-download leaderboard data, or get around rate limits or other protections;
- harass other players or use the Game for anything illegal.
If you do, we may remove your runs, reset your progress, and suspend or close your account. Racing against ghosts and watching replays is of course part of the Game and is welcome.
6. Paid cars and other virtual items
The Game sells extra cars (each one or as a bundle). Paid cars are cosmetic: they look and sound different, but every car drives the same, so paying never makes you faster. Cars and paints you earn by playing are also virtual items.
When you buy or earn a virtual item, we give you a personal, limited, non-transferable, revocable license to use it in the Game while you have an account and the Game is offered. You do not own virtual items, they have no cash value, and they cannot be sold, traded, transferred or exchanged for money. Purchased cars are linked to the account you bought them with.
7. Payments
Prices are shown in the Game in U.S. dollars and include any sales tax, VAT or GST we are required to collect. Payments are processed by Stripe; by paying you also agree to Stripe’s terms. Your car is unlocked as soon as the payment goes through. If a payment is refunded or reversed (for example by a chargeback), the item it paid for is removed from your account. Refunds are explained in our Refund Policy.
We may change prices at any time. A price change does not affect anything you have already bought. If an item was sold at an obviously wrong price because of a mistake, we may cancel the order and refund you.
8. Our content
The Game, including its code, graphics, cars, maps, music, sounds, logo and the name Hoone, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a personal, non-commercial license to play the Game in your browser. You may share screenshots, videos and streams of your play, including on monetized channels. Otherwise you may not copy, modify, resell or redistribute the Game.
All cars, places and names in the Game are fictional. Hoone is not affiliated with or endorsed by any car maker.
The Game uses open-source software, which is provided under its own licenses.
9. Feedback
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely without owing you anything.
10. Copyright complaints
If you believe something in the Game, such as a racing name, infringes your copyright or trademark, email [email protected] with a description of the work, where it appears in the Game, your contact information and a statement that you are the owner or authorized to act for them and that the notice is accurate. We will remove infringing content and may close the accounts of repeat infringers.
11. Ending your use
You can stop playing at any time and delete your account in the Game (Profile, then Delete account). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. We may also stop offering the Game; if we plan to shut it down, we will try to give notice in the Game first. When an account is closed or the Game shuts down, its virtual items go away with it; unless the law requires otherwise, there is no refund for them. Sections 4, 6, 8, 9 and 12 to 16 keep applying after that.
12. Disclaimers
The Game is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Game will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that saved progress, times or ghosts will never be lost.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, progress, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Game. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Game is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50.
Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Indemnity
If you break these terms or the law while using the Game and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including legal fees.
15. Disputes
If you have a problem with the Game, please email us first at [email protected]; most things can be sorted out quickly that way. If we cannot resolve it within 60 days, either of us may bring the claim in small claims court or another court of competent jurisdiction. You and we agree to bring claims only individually, not as part of a class or representative action, to the extent the law allows.
16. General
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the U.S. state in which Hoone is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you live outside the United States, you keep any consumer protections the laws of your country give you. If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms to someone else; we may transfer them as part of a sale or transfer of the Game. These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Game.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will tell signed-in players in the Game or by email before they take effect. If you keep playing after a change, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the Game and ask us to delete your account.
