v1.2: Photo mode and video recording

Hoone 1.2 is out. It is all about showing off your runs: a photo mode with a free camera and a video recorder built into the game. The maps drive exactly as before, so your best times and ghosts still count.

Photo mode

Press M (or click the camera next to your profile in the pause menu, or the camera in a replay) to leave the car behind and fly a free camera anywhere over the map.
Fly with your driving keys, Space / E up and Q / C down, look around with the mouse, hold Shift to go faster and Alt for slow, careful moves. The mouse wheel zooms.
Press P or Enter to take a photo. It is saved as a PNG. Shift + P, or the copy button next to Take photo, puts the shot on your clipboard instead.
H hides the buttons for a clean view.
In a race the clock stops while you are in photo mode. In a replay you can pause and play the run with T and line up the perfect moment.
Works with a gamepad too: press the right stick to open it.

Video recording

Press J (or the record button in the pause menu or in photo mode) to record the game as a video, with its sound.
A small pill shows the time while you record. It stays out of the video.
When you stop, the clip opens in a small editor: watch it, cut it into pieces, trim or drop them, and save it as an MP4.
Your browser asks each time before it starts. Everything stays on your computer: nothing is uploaded.
A recording stops by itself after 5 minutes.

Photo mode and recording are for computers. Phones and tablets don't have them yet.

Fullscreen and keys

Press K to play fullscreen, or use the new Fullscreen switch at the top of Settings > Display.
P now pauses too, next to Esc. Handy in fullscreen, where Esc also leaves fullscreen.
Every new key can be changed in Settings > Key bindings.

A new look for lava and the sky

Lava now moves like a molten sea: slow swells, white-hot streaks, a black cooled crust along the banks, bubbles and drifting crust.
A bigger sun with a soft glare, high wispy clouds, more cloud layers out over the sea and a moon on dusk maps.
Touching lava now restarts the run, just like water.

Profiles and accounts

Sign in with Discord.
Add up to three social links to your racer profile: Discord, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, Reddit or Steam. They show on your racer page and when someone hovers your name on the leaderboard.
Hoone has a Discord server. Come say hi, share your runs and photos.

Since 1.1

Last runs: the button in the bottom left keeps your last 20 tries on a map, finished or not. Watch them, race them as a ghost or pin the ones you want to keep.
If the game's servers are down, the game now says so, and a best time that didn't reach the leaderboard is sent again once they are back.
A tab left open overnight tells you when a new daily map is out.
Music, car sound and effects can each be muted on their own in the sound settings.
New switch under Settings > Advanced: Wall assist. It is on as before and tilts the car onto a wall it is about to hit while in the air. Turn it off if you'd rather steer your landings yourself.
Lots of small fixes to the leaderboard, hover cards and the profile.
